Illustrated by John McLenan. 260pp. Printed in double columns. 8vo, blindstamped cloth, with gilt lettering on spine. Widely considered Collins' best work and often regarded as the first mystery genre novel written. Previous owner signature and sticker inside (different owners). Minor stain on page 73, but rest of interior is clean and unmarked. Some discoloration to page fore-edges. Corner of first blank page is torn/missing, else very good with slight loss at spine-ends, some rubbing to edges, and tiny bit of fraying at extremities.
