The premiere was given by the Back Bay Chorale and the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra conducted by Larry Hill on May 21, 1983 at Sanders Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Stage sets by Mazur were inspired by Goya's horrific images of civil war (the cover & flaps feature reproductions of Goya's grisly Three Prisoners triptych. The libretto was printed in an edition of 1500, this being one of 1400 unsigned trade copies (there was also a signed & numbered edition of 100). Music by W. Newell Hendricks. Original squarish stapled wrappers with fold-in front & rear covers. Fine copy.
