In addition, there is a "lettre pneumatique" in Maeterlinck's hand that has been tipped into the book on an extra preliminary page addressed to Walkley arranging for him to meet the playwright the following day at the theatre entrance so he can let in Mr. Walkley for a full-dress performance (rehearsal) of the entire play. The note - often referred to as a "petit bleu" - has been sent (and is dated) around the time of the play's introduction to the Paris audience. Original wrappers have been bound into plain blue boards. Maeterlinck, best known for THE BLUEBIRD (1908) and PELLEAS ET MELISANDE (Debussy composed an opera based on this 1893 play that premiered in 1902), was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1911.Nice association.
