Paris / London / Leipzig, Germany: J & W. Chester; Edition Schott Mainz; Édition russe de musique, 1917-1932. First edition thus. Softcover. Lovely collection of 19 different Stravinsky musical scores, 18 of which are SIGNED, 5 of which are INSCRIBED TO MERLE ARMITAGE, close friend of Stravinsky. Also includes a SIGNED NOTE to Armitage written on a 3.5"x5.5" card, and a postcard to Armitage SIGNED by Stravinsky and his wife Vera, as well as American conductor Robert Craft, who was also very close with Stravinsky. The scores are miniature or smaller sized full scores ranging in sizes from 5.5"x7.5" to 6"x8.5", all bound in wraps, with printed card covers. Armitage, a major graphic artist, theatre and music impresario, was indeed a good friend to Stravinsky after the Russian composer came to the U.S. Armitage, also a book designer and graphic artist, wrote numerous books, including on Stravinsky, Gershwin and others. One-of-a-kind collection, consisting of 20 different items autographed by Stravinsky in all.
