Peter Mays, 1972. First Edition. Hardcover. Strange production, presumably self-published, printed almost entirely in black & white on grainy paper, with (screen-printed?) clear acetate free-endpapers and black felt pastedown. Rear boards stamped in gilt, with magic square (5-word palindrome): SATAN ADAMA TABAT AMADA NATAS, of which the last three words are gibberish. The book contains occult and gnostic imagery and symbols throughout. The author of this production is presumed to be artist and experimental filmmaker Peter Mays, who started making films and painting in Los Angeles in the 1960s. Mays was influenced by Warhol and the sixties counter-culture. Most of the films he made were experimental short films. Near fine in dj with short closed tear on front of jacket.
