LOVE. A Story
Derry, NH/Ridgewood, NJ: Babcock & Koontz, 1989. First Edition. Softcover. One of 200 numbered copies signed by Williams of a total edition of 240. Excerpt from a then-unpublished novel, which would eventually be published in 1999 as CLIFFORD'S BLUES. Some Blacks were in the Nazi prison at Dachau, as Williams discovered on a visit there in 1966. Further research led him to write a story about them, centered around a gay Black musician named Clifford. Illust. by Gaylord Schanilec. Original sewn wrappers, front-label. Very fine.
