A comic Gothic fantasy for children centered on the eccentric Evil Hold School, written by Nikolai Tolstoy and illustrated by Robin Jacques. Tolstoy later acknowledged drawing on his own experiences teaching at St. Mary's Town & Country School in London for some of the characters and incidents. Very Good in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. Jacket with a closed tear to the front panel, light staining visible on the verso, and minor edgewear. Cloth with a few small nicks and light wear.
