Rebound in early 20th-century full polished calf, gilt ruled and decorated, with red morocco spine label and “Anecdote Library” in gilt to the front board. An unusual working copy with several pages of extensive manuscript indexing bound at the rear and an old mounted illustration relating to an anecdote on p. 286. Lacking the frontispiece found in some recorded copies. Very good in later full polished calf, with light rubbing and wear to extremities. Contents generally very good with scattered foxing and toning; several manuscript index leaves and a mounted illustration added at rear. Lacking the frontispiece found in some recorded copies.
