An attractive early nineteenth-century edition of Locke's landmark work on knowledge, perception, and the nature of human understanding, first published in 1690. Handsomely bound later in dark half leather over marbled boards, with raised bands, gilt spine lettering and rules, marbled endpapers, and ribbon marker. Early and later ownership signatures. Very good in a handsome later binding, with light rubbing to the leather and minor wear at the joints. Contents very good with scattered light foxing and toning. Previous ownership signatures.
